The area offers scenic routes towards Kallahdenniemi and Uutela, with easy coastal paths, forest trails and peaceful places to stop by the sea. Check current rental availability before you go, as booking conditions may vary.

36. Do yoga in the park. In summer, Helsinki’s parks turn into peaceful outdoor studios, with free and low-threshold classes popping up around the city. Bring your own mat, check the schedule in advance from e.g. Facebook group Puistojoogaa Helsingissä and enjoy a gentle workout in the fresh air.

37. Go swimming. Cool off at one of Helsinki’s public beaches or head to the city’s classic outdoor pools: Helsinki Swimming Stadium and Kumpula Outdoor Swimming Pool. For more relaxed experience try Café Bar No 9 in Punavuori.

47. Join a free outdoor dance class at Teurastamo. In summer, Kaupunkitanssit offers free partner dance lessons in Teurastamo’s courtyard on Thursday evenings. Each week focuses on a different dance style, from waltz and samba to bachata and tango. You can join alone or with a partner, and no advance registration is needed. The teaching is in Finnish, but the classes are beginner-friendly and easy to follow by watching.

48. Go for an architecture walk. Helsinki is a rewarding city to explore on foot, with everything from wooden garden-city houses to Art Nouveau façades and bold contemporary landmarks. Admire the historic wooden houses of Puu-Käpylä, stroll along Huvilakatu to see one of Helsinki’s most photographed Art Nouveau streets, and stop by modern architectural icons such as Oodi Central Library and Amos Rex around Lasipalatsi Square. It’s an easy way to see how many architectural layers Helsinki has within a compact, walkable city.
