Finally, a good shampoo for frizzy hair. My hair has always behaved in a predictable way: the more humid the air, the more frizz appears. I have naturally long, curly hair that is prone to frizz, which makes it especially sensitive to both weather conditions and styling products. I have been using this anti-frizz shampoo together with a heat protectant for blow-drying, and the difference in my hair is clearly noticeable. I have not achieved results this close to a salon-quality blow-dry before.

Product promise: Kérastase Gloss Absolu Bain Hydra-Glaze Shampoo is designed specifically for long and frizz-prone hair. The product is promoted as adding shine to the hair, prolonging freshness, and leaving hair smooth and soft. The shampoo’s effectiveness is based on hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid, and rose oil, which cleanse, hydrate, and smooth the hair surface.
Its foaming, gel-like texture effectively cleanses both the scalp and hair while moisturizing and leaving the hair airy. The shampoo seals the outer layer of the hair, creating a smooth surface. Used together with conditioner and hair oil, it can keep frizz away for up to four days.
Real-life results
The shampoo itself is a translucent, fairly thick yet still runny gel. The scent is pleasant – fresh, floral, and citrusy. The shampoo takes a bit of massaging into the hair, but it lathers easily. Hair is easy to detangle and blow-dry using a heat protectant. The product genuinely feels both gentle and effective.
The first visible difference appears after blow-drying:
- hair falls more smoothly without forcing
- frizz does not return immediately in humidity
- the hair feels slightly heavier, but not greasy
Overall, the end result is smooth, and the hair feels slightly thicker and somewhat heavier – which in this case is not a negative, but rather helps the hair fall better and look healthy. In my experience, shampoos like this—nourishing and smoothing, and which can make the hair feel heavier—carry a potential risk of leaving the hair looking flat or greasy. However, Kérastase Gloss Absolu Bain Hydra-Glaze Shampoo does not make the hair greasy at all, but instead makes it look hydrated, healthy, and simply straighter. The product is somewhat expensive, but in my experience it truly helps manage frizzy hair.

Shampoo for frizzy hair | Summary
I will definitely buy the product again. I think that when using this type of product for a longer period, it is good to occasionally use a deep-cleansing shampoo. In any case, this is a lifesaver for frizzy, unruly hair – I recommend it for anyone wanting smoother hair! This is not just “a decent shampoo,” but a product that clearly stands out for a specific hair type.
- visibly reduces frizz in practical use
- improves manageability and blow-drying
- keeps hair looking polished
The other products in the same Kérastase range may enhance the smoothing effect even further, but in my case the shampoo alone was already sufficient to noticeably improve manageability and reduce frizz. Below are the orher products in the line; the conditioning cream is the one I am most interested in and will be testing next.
