Misaij has been to Trattoria Sogno Helsinki in Töölö for dinner a couple of times. Here are my thoughts on the restaurant, the food, and the atmosphere.
Trattoria Sogno is a Töölö-based restaurant focusing on Italian cuisine and a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere. The dinner choice was based on the desire for a casual, uncomplicated place that served pizza but also offered other options, including gluten-free dishes.
On a summer Saturday early evening (visited in 2025), the atmosphere was calm, though the restaurant gradually filled as the evening progressed. The clientele ranged from small groups to families with children.
We started by sharing an antipasti board. It included three types of cheese, grilled vegetables, melon, olives, jam, and cured meats. The board was flavorful and well-composed, but slightly too generous for a starter for two. For a lighter option, this dish is perfect for sharing with a glass of wine.

For the main course, I ordered the Risotto Milanese di Scampi, a saffron risotto with scampi. By coincidence, I had recently tried the same dish at another restaurant, which made a direct comparison possible. In this case, Trattoria Sogno’s version stood out positively: the rice had a more distinct bite, and the scampi were particularly well-flavoured. My companions ordered a Pepperoni Picante pizza and a Margherita pizza. Both were described as very good, with the Pepperoni Picante notably spicy, which was considered a positive feature. We did not try desserts on this occasion.

On the second visit in spring 2026, with a different group of people, we ordered an antipasti board (yes, it was that good) and two kinds of risotto. One person in the group had pasta, which was tasty, and another ordered pizza, which was also said to be good. The restaurant was much busier this time around, so it was good that we had booked a table.
Trattoria Sogno Helsinki | Summary
This Töölö restaurant can be recommended without hesitation. It offers a relaxed environment, high-quality and well-prepared food, and exceptionally friendly service. The only minor drawback was a lapse in gluten-free handling: despite ordering my dishes gluten-free, regular focaccia was brought to the table with the starter. However, on the second visit to the restaurant, gluten-free bread was brought to the table automatically. Overall, Trattoria Sogno is a place worth returning to for a casual evening and good Italian food.
Tips for travellers:
The restaurant isn’t in central Helsinki, but it’s still close by. You can take a tram—lines 4 and 10 run along Mannerheimintie, and the stop is called Ooppera, right by the Finnish National Opera and Ballet across the street. See the HSL website (HSL.fi/en) for public transport ticket information.
If you’re staying at Scandic Park Helsinki or Crowne Plaza Helsinki – Hesperia, the restaurant is within easy walking distance.
If you’re staying in central Helsinki, you can combine your visit with a pleasant walk around Töölönlahti.
